Who will the Jaguars take in the 2024 NFL Draft? Latest 7-round mock draft for Jacksonville (2024)

We aren't that far from the 2024 NFL Draft and it's Monday, so there's another mock draft for you to get your eyes on for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In the first two installments of our NFL mock draft series, TU mock 1.0 selected wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. in the first round before shifting to the opposite side of the football in the TU mock 2.0 with Florida State pass rusher Jared Verse.

Round 'em up! Who are the Jacksonville Jaguars projected to pick in 2024 NFL Draft? Mock drafts weigh in

Each Monday in the lead-up to the draft, the Times-Union will publish a seven-round mock for the Jaguars, attempting to get a better idea of how things could shake out.

After signing plenty of outside free agents, the Jaguars filled most of the team's perceived holes and will have plenty of ammo to add to it in just over a week when the NFL Draft kicks off on April 25th at 8 p.m.

Note: This mock draft is based on positions and players the Times-Union would select if running the Jaguars based on their perceived needs, not necessarily based on information provided by the team or otherwise. The mock was done using a simulator via Pro Football Network.

There's nothing to report on the needs front for the Jaguars, though they did gain a bit of clarity about one of the potential needs early in the draft.

With Jacksonville signing pass rusher Josh Allen to a new five-year contract extension, it feels unlikely they'd invest a first-round pick in the position. Of course, that could still be the case, but Allen is locked in now with no worry for either side.

Round 1, Pick 17: Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State

Who will the Jaguars take in the 2024 NFL Draft? Latest 7-round mock draft for Jacksonville (1)

This won't happen.

Or, well, it could, but probably won't. Or shouldn't?

If it does, the Jaguars would do well to walk briskly to the podium with Oregon State tackle, Taliese Fuaga's name on the card in hand or turn in the proverbial trade-down card because their way this should be his final landing spot at pick No. 17, whether with the Jaguars or otherwise.

Fuaga, 6-foot-5, 324 pounds with 33-inch arms fits the Jaguars and general manager Trent Baalke's mold for a tackle exactly. Fuaga's skills aren't half bad, either.

Taliese Fuaga is a OT prospect in the 2024 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.71 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 39 out of 1314 OT from 1987 to 2024.

Fuaga graded out as the second-best draft-eligible blocker this year with a 90.7 grade on Pro Football Focus behind Notre Dame's Joe Alt. He gave up zero sacks and just 12 pressures in 351 pass-block reps.

The Jaguars got an up-close-and-personal look at Fuaga at his pro day in March with offensive line coach Phil Rauscher in attendance.

The team enters this year with tackles Cam Robinson and Walker Little entering the final year of their deals. Getting a player like Fuaga's talents, who can slide inside at guard if needed, could be a coup if the team decides to move forward with Anton Harrison as the team's left tackle in the future.

Round 2, Pick 48: Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri

Who will the Jaguars take in the 2024 NFL Draft? Latest 7-round mock draft for Jacksonville (2)

There's no question that the Jaguars' most glaring hole on the roster is at cornerback.

Not only does the team not have many corners under contract in 2025, but their top-rated player, Tyson Campbell, is entering a justify-it season after a disappointing, injury-riddled campaign in 2023.

Enter Missouri's Ennis Rakestraw who could play nickel early in Jacksonville before flipping outside to replace veteran corner Ronald Darby or even Campbell if the team allows him to walk next year.

Rakestraw, 5-foot-11, 183 pounds, is ranked as a top-10 corner in this year's draft according to many draft experts. He isn't the fastest and has injury concerns, but his playstyle fits exactly what Jaguars defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen asked for out of his players: fast, free and physical.

Rakestraw accounted for 106 total tackles in 32 starts for Mizzou, he added an interception and 24 pass breakups to go along with seven tackles for loss, one sack and three forced fumbles.

Round 3, Pick 96: Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama

If corner is the first position group Jaguars fans look at with mocks, a receiver is the next position group off of the board.

With Jermain Burton, the Jaguars will be able to address something they haven't had in a while. A player with enough size and speed to threaten defenses to defend their backend.

Burton, 6-foot, 196 pounds, started 39 games at Alabama, averaging 18 years per reception on 132 catches, 2,376 yards and 23 touchdowns. He had just four drops in his career.

Round 4, pick 114: Mekhi Wingo, DT, LSU

With the addition of defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen and an aging interior front for the Jaguars, they'll have to tackle this position early enough to make a difference.

Wingo, 6-foot, 284 pounds, does not fit the typical Baalke selection at defensive tackle but could be a versatile piece on Nielsen's front four that he would love to get his hands on.

โ€” Full-Time Dame ๐Ÿ’ฐ (@DP_NFL) September 4, 2023

An undersized player, Wingo made the most of his reps at LSU with 8.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, five pass breakups and an interception in 24 starts for the Tigers. He has the versatility to play inside and out and did so at LSU at times. He has plenty of potential and could make an impact during his rookie season.

Round 4, pick 116: Jalyx Hunt, EDGE, Houston Christian

This is where it gets kinda fun. Hunt is undersized in terms of his weight but is one of the most athletic edge players in this year's draft. He posted a 9.18 relative athletic score during the Combine in February.

After three years at Cornell, which included a canceled season due to COVID-19, Hunt transferred to Houston Christian and thrived in his first real in-game action as a pass rusher.

In 21 starts, Hunt accounted for 20.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, six pass breakups and an interception. He'd be part of a rotation that currently features just Allen, Travon Walker, Yasir Abdullah and Trevis Gipson.

Round 5, pick 153: Deantre Prince, CB, Ole Miss

This is the part of the draft that'll always be familiar. There's not much reason to take multiple shots here, but I want to underscore the positions themselves.

Another corner worth keeping an eye on is Ole Miss CB Deantre Prince. The Jaguars have shown interest in Prince, bringing him in for a 30-visit through the draft process.

Prince, 6-foot, 183 pounds posted good measurables at the Combine with a 4.39 40-yard dash and a 10-foot-5-inch broad jump. Prince played in 51 games at Ole Miss, accounting for 146 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 21 pass breakups and six interceptions.

Round 6, pick 212: Ryan Flournoy, WR, SE Missouri State

Who will the Jaguars take in the 2024 NFL Draft? Latest 7-round mock draft for Jacksonville (7)

Again, a repeat to underscore a need.

Flournoy is a really interesting player who plays basically with all athleticism, meaning coaching will have a major impact on his development at the next level.

Southeast Missouri Stateโ€™s Ryan Flournoy has wicked ball skills. Catches almost everything thrown his way and excels through contact/traffic.

Had a really solid Senior Bowl and tested incredibly at the Combine. One of my fav sleepers in the 2024 NFL Draft. pic.twitter.com/8JFklaNu8o

โ€” Bobby Football (@Rob__Paul) March 10, 2024

In 20 starts, Flournoy caught 135 passes for 1,993 yards and 13 touchdowns. He recorded just four drops including one in nine games at SE Missouri State. The Jaguars need to upgrade their receiver room and double-dipping in a deep draft makes the most sense to get it done.

Round 7, pick 236: Evan Anderson, DT, Florida Atlantic University

Who will the Jaguars take in the 2024 NFL Draft? Latest 7-round mock draft for Jacksonville (8)

While the Jaguars selected a defensive tackle earlier in this draft, Evan Anderson out of Florida Atlanta is as close to the opposite of Wingo as you can get inside on the defensive line.

At 6-foot-1, 320 pounds, Anderson packs a punch in the middle of a defense. In 36 starts for the Owls, he recorded 20 tackles for loss, seven sacks and 145 total tackles.

FAUโ€™s Evan Anderson (#8) is a space eating monster who hustles his butt off to make run stops. Man can clog up gaps or work off blocks to make plays.

Anderson is a truly massive nose tackle (6-3, 356) and will surely have some big fans throughout the 2024 NFL Draft process. pic.twitter.com/8AUlHZmmJY

โ€” Bobby Football (@Rob__Paul) July 5, 2023

Anderson isn't ready to start Day 1, but with time he will work his way into a rotation. with the Jaguars unsure of what they'll get from DaVon Hamilton, it underscores a need for the position.
