Do I have to chill overnight? Can it sit for 5 hours and then be eaten?

I think five hours would be fine. That would give everything enough time to set up and thicken. 🙂

This is a very tasty and flavorful dessert. However, it is very soupy even after refrigerating overnight. Perhaps draining the mandarin orange juice is the answer?

Hmm… Thank you for letting me know. I’ll have to take another look at this recipe and test it again. I’ll update the recipe with my result. Thank you again.

I haven’t made this yet but something seems a little off about the liquids. When preparing a 3 oz package of jello, normally, it takes 2 cups of water per box. Even just using one cup of boiling water per box (for a total of 3 cups) it should still set up and your recipe only calls for 1/4 cup water total? I have made this type of jello before using the liquid from the oranges so I don’t think that’s the problem. I just don’t see any way using only the liquid from the oranges and 1/4 cup water that this jello could be thin or runny. 🧐

Hi again. I finally managed to make the Orange Dreamsicle Jello Salad again, and I think I’ve gained five pounds as a result. LOL! For my taste, it is almost impossible to resist. I followed the recipe exactly and did not experience the soupy texture like you did. As a matter of fact, it was creamy almost immediately. Refrigerating it only firmed it slightly. I did make a video this time and as soon as I can get it edited I’ll post it for added instruction. It should be available within the week. I’m sorry that I couldn’t help you out more. Hopefully you’ll give it another try sometime and have better success.
