Woods can't find the birdie down the hill, but he taps in for a par and that's Tiger done for the day at one under par for 13 holes - which is more than a decent knock considering.

Woods will have to play 23 holes tomorrow if he is to finish off his second round, which will be a huge test of his fitness, but there doesn't seem too much wrong with his game.

Max Homa finishes his day on four under after picking up a birdie to bounce back from that bogey on 12.

    Woods -1, Homa -3, Day E (12)

Woods is in the woods off the tee, but finds the green with a great third shot after just digging it out of the pine straw.

The hooter goes as this group approach the green but they're going to finish off the hole - as they're allowed to do.

    Pavon -2, Hatton -3 (14)

Tyrell Hatton is playing some good stuff here. Can he knock in another birdie before play is suspended for the evening?

His tee shot on the 14th is some 326 yards and puts him in prime position slap bang in the middle of the fairway. Now what can he do from there? He zips it in to 15 feet and with Matthieu Pavon's ball a couple of feet further on gets a read from Frenchman's putt, but frustratingly can't drain it.

    Just a par for Hatton.

    Hojgaard -5 (15)

Nicolai Hojgaard shows that he's made of stern stuff as he respond to his bogey with a fine birdie on 15, which was almost an eagle after he drilled a long iron from 222 yards and found the heart of the green.

    He's some player!

  7. 'I'm ready to go at a moment's notice'published at 00:49 12 April

    00:49 12 April

    Scheffler -6 (66)

More from Scottie Scheffler, who is asked if he should have won more majors and what'll happen if his pregnant wife Meredith goes into labour: "In my head, yeah, should I have wonway more golf tournaments. Anytime I show up to a golf tournament, I'm hoping to win that golf tournament.

"If youask Tiger Woods the same thing, he would say he hasn't won nearly as many golf tournaments as he should.I think that's part of what drives us as players, is we want to compete and we want to win out here. That's just part of it.Golf is not a very satisfying game, I would say. You win one week and then you show up the next week and you don'twin. It's like, well, that's it. The win is over. Now I finished second. That's too bad. It's just one of those sports where you're never really satisfied with the result.

Asked if he is concerned that there's a scenario in which he'll haveto leave this tournament, Scheffler adds: "I don't really know. People have asked us how our preparation is going for the baby. I feel like, well, we are a little underprepared. Thenursery is not quite ready and we've had some issues at our house the last few weeks. I think that's the exciting part.

"Ithink we are definitely underprepared to be parents. As far as her going into labour, I wouldn't say I'm very concerned.

"We haven't seen any of the early signs. But pregnancyis weird. It can happen at any time. Yeah, open lines of communication and she can get hold of me if she needs to.Yeah, I'm ready to go at a moment's notice."

    Pavon -2, Hatton -3 (13)

After the disappointment of Golden Bell, Tyrell Hatton bounces back on Azalea.

The Englishman isn't tempted to go for the dance floor in two on the 545-yard par five and instead lays up.

That just gives him the simple task of lofting a chip in somewhere near the pin which he manages with ease before dropping in a putt from five feet.

    Scheffler -6 (66)

The 2022 Master champion and world number one Scottie Scheffler does not get excited by much, even if his first round only enhanced his status as favourite: "It's always nice getting around here bogey-free. I did a good job of staying patient today. We kept the golf course in front of us.

"And, I mean, I executed some really nice up-and-downs to keep the round going. And, yeah, I enjoy coming here and competing in this golf tournament. You know, the first day is over and I'm off to agood start. And, you know, going into tonight I'll just focus on going home, getting some rest.

"May go hit a few balls, but outside of that I'm going to go get some recovery in and some dinner and try to get some sleep.

"When I was walking up to the first tee, I was fairly surprised with how many people were underpar already. Going into today with the forecast the way it was supposed to be, and I've played this tournament oncebefore in some pretty high winds, and it's an extremely challenging golf course. And, yeah, I felt like today I just did a really good job."

  10. Homa drops first shotpublished at 00:38 12 April

    00:38 12 April

    Woods -1, Homa -3, Day E (12)

Jason Day is furthest from the flag but is the best with a wedge in hand on the 12th. His chip skips and skids to within three inches. Excellent par.

Max Homa flicks his chip over a bunker but he cannot stop the ball quickly enough and he's left with an eight-foot downhiller that he tries to coax in but that will be a first dropped shot.

Tiger Woods, with the ball behind and above him, conjures a lovely chip to about five feet. A fist bump with his caddie follows a solid par putt.

    Hojgaard -4 (14)

No sooner has Nicolai Hojgaard fired himself into the business end of the leaderboard then Augusta National says not so fast young fella and gives him a polite reminder that the Masters is supposed to be a really hard tournament.

He bogeys 14 but doesn't seem too rattled - he never seems rattled really - and with 15 next he could have a chance to pick up another birdie.

  12. Tricky on 12published at 00:31 12 April

    00:31 12 April

    Woods -1, Homa -4, Day E (11)

Never good to be in two minds when standing over your ball on the 12th tee. Golden Bell has already had a few go swimming in the pond protecting the front.

Jason Day is all over the shop here. He steps away from his ball, has a chat with his caddie, looks to the wind. He just doesn't look comfortable. Finally he commits. His ball goes left. But it's dry and in not a bad spot, leaving him a simple chip across the green.

Max Homa wastes no time. It's short. His ball lands on the bank in front of the green. Countless balls have trickled back down there and into the water. But not Homa's. It somehow clings on. Wow.Tiger Woods up last. He's long. Into the pine straw at the back. Tricky chip coming up.

  13. Rock on Tommy!published at 00:29 12 April

    00:29 12 April

    Fleetwood -3, Johnson +1, Morikawa +1 (9)

Tommy Fleetwood plays a lovely spinning iron shot into the ninth that stands to attention and sits nicely to leave him four feet for a birdie.

And in she goes for Fleetwood to make it a hat-trick of birdies to finish his front nine in three under par.

  14. Postpublished at 00:26 12 April

    00:26 12 April

    Harman -2, Koepka E, Kim -1 (10)

Back on the 10th Brooks Koepka is a ball width away from sinking a 40-foot birdie putt.

He could really do with a couple of these dropping to put himself in the mix.

  15. Hat-trick for Hojgaardpublished at 00:24 12 April

    00:24 12 April

    Hojgaard -5 (13)

Nicolai Hojgaard is now officially in contention at the Masters after making it three birdies in a row at 13 - picking up shots on all three holes around Amen Corner.

He's in the pine straw off the tee but is in no mood to lay up so has a whack at it and lands it on the green with a stellar iron shot - setting up a two-putt birdie.

  16. Pars are good on 11published at 00:24 12 April

    00:24 12 April

    Woods -1, Homa -4, Day E (11)

The wind is playing havoc on the 11th. Blowing from right-to-left and with a pond protecting the left side of the green, it's easy to see why both Jason Day and Tiger Woods are cautious with their second shots.

    Both are short and right.

Max Homa has hacked out of the trees and left himself a short wedge for his third shot, which he spins in to about 10 feet and knocks in to maintain his bogey-free round.

Tiger is a good few yards short of the green and plays a simply stunning shot. Floats in, two bounces, a skid forward and then the brakes go in. Six-inches from perfection.

Can Jason Day follow him? Yes he can. Similar shot. Similar result.

  17. Hatton gets his feet wetpublished at 00:15 12 April

    00:15 12 April

    Pavon -2, Hatton -2 (12)

Tyrrell Hatton is cursing again. The Englishman looked pretty pleased with himself after rolling in from seven feet or so to save par on the 11th.

However, Augusta National's shortest par three and a huge gust of wind catches him out just a few minutes later as his ball slips back off the putting surface and carries on going all the way into the drink.

Hatton's third from the drop zone, is not bad mind as far as damage limitation goes, pitching into five feet, meaning it'll only be the one shot dropped.

  18. The wrong trousers?published at 00:11 12 April

    00:11 12 April

    Woods -1, Homa -4, Day E (10)

Jason Day is wearing the kind of baggy slacks not seen since the early 90s. The wind is blowing straight through the 11th tee and the Aussie's pants are billowing like a sail. He finds the fairway though.

Max Homa and Tiger Woods are both sporting tighter strides. Homa goes right, into the trees. Tiger follows Day.

They players won't be out there too much longer as the sun starts to dip below the pines and shadows start to lengthen, so plenty of them will have a good few holes to finish off tomorrow morning.

  20. Fleetwood flyingpublished at 00:07 12 April

    00:07 12 April

    Johnson +1, Morikawa +2, Fleetwood -2 (8)

Tommy Fleetwood is just getting a little run together now as he approach the turn, making birdies on seven and eight to go two under par.

The Englishman has not dropped a shot today either so this has potential to be a fine round - not that he'll get to complete it tonight as darkness starts to creep in.
