Hawaiian Ham and Cheese Sliders – Make These TONIGHT!

If you were to ever pick just ONE recipe to make ham and cheese sliders using Hawaiian bread for the rest of your life, it would be these. Like, you really, have to make them. They're just that good!

🍴 MENU PLAN NOTE: This recipe can also be found in our Freezer Meals Plan: Week 10!

A few years ago I was heading out to scrapbook with a few friends for the weekend, and we each bring along a dish to share. While I've made these slow cooker ham and swiss sliders before, I was in a hurry and found these sandwiches, and oh-my-word, I'm so glad I did! I will never make these sandwiches another way.

These were heavenly.I left my husband a batch at home that weekend and he devoured them, in the midst of surviving three kids all by himself. Normally that's not a big deal, but he was on crutches at the time so I figured the least I could do was cook for him!

These are SO good and they're just perfect for making up ahead of time (you can even freeze them!) Think of these for busy nights when you're running around to different activities and need to get dinner done FAST. And plus, I'm pretty sure it's impossible to mess up a King's Hawaiian Roll (you can use a plain ole' bakery roll, but there's something just perfect about those Sweet Rolls that makes everything taste divine . . . ),and secondly ~ well ~ butter, onion, ham and Swiss . . . need I say more?

Here's how to make Ham and Cheese Sliders in just a few easy steps:

First, gather up your ingredients:

You'll want to grab some Hawaiian Rolls, quality cheese, a good deli ham and your toppings (this is where all the flavor comes from!)

We have always used King's brand Hawaiian Rolls, but many grocery chains now carry generic, so keep an eye out for that! You can also sub a different flavor of cheese if you don't like Swiss – Provolone or White American would be delicious too. You'll also want to have aluminum foil for baking and extra for freezing if you don't want to eat these right away.

Quick Instructions:

To get started making your hot ham and cheese sliders, you'll want to separate the top of the rolls from the bottom of the dinner rolls. You can use a serrated knife to do this (just try to keep it even!)

Mix up your poppy seeds, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard to make a yummy butter mixture. You could also just use a honey mustard mix, but we really love the butteriness of that mix 🙂 Spoon half of this over your bottom layer of rolls. You could even add a bit of onion powder to the mixture too if you prefer!

Next, take your ham and Swiss cheese and layer over the bottom of the sliders. Top with the other half of the rolls, drizzle the rest of the butter sauce, cover with foil, and preheat your oven.

If you're making these up right away to eat (maybe for game day?), place them either on a slab of aluminum foil or into a baking dish and cook for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted through.

YUM!

Can you freeze Ham and Cheese Sliders?

You can absolutely freeze Hawaiian Ham and Cheese Sliders – in fact, this recipe comes from our Menu Planning Made Easy Freezer Meal Plan! The main difference is that instead of cooking these right away, you'll wrap them up tight to protect from freezer burn, and place in the freezer. When you're ready to eat them, thaw overnight, and then cook according to the directions listed below.

These are great for preparing ahead of time for quick dinners, parties, or even to take along on vacation.

I'm so super boring with sides y'all! Of course I'm always going to choose a big green salad but here are some other options for you to try:
