This is a classic looking Skeleton key, but it is done as a black and white silhouette. It is an example of how a simple key shape can translate into a unique and interesting design. Silhouettes seem to have a special artistic quality to them. They are quite versatile to use in so many different projects as the boldness of the design really stands out on Home Decor projects and more.

This is a set of 3 keys on a ring. They all say security on them. They have a bit more of a modern shape to them than many of the other keys on this page.
Above is a stylized looking image of a symmetrical pattern created by two Skeleton Keys crossed on the key ring. I find it to be particularly interesting. It is alsofrom the antique Typography book.
Here is the latest addition to this collection.I thought this one was really fun with it’s heart shaped top! Could be nice to use in Valentine projects, or Wedding or Anniversary cards.

Above is an interesting looking Paris Key Clip Art Graphic from an Old French Document! The Key has some fun Typography with it. You don’t see modern keys that are so stylish very often!I’ve also included the key without the writing, to give you some other options.Here is an old fashioned lookingSkeleton Key with a square bottom. It was scanned from an antique Typography book.
Shown above is a wonderful Ornate Key from an 1870’s Science Magazine! The intricate design of the various parts of this key is actually quite amazing. This must have required much thought and time to create. The drawing is spectacular. So fancy and fun! Did you recognize this one from above in the Silhouette section? Quite a different look when you see the full engraving… lines and all.
This one was inspired by the show “Once Upon a Time”! Perhaps you are familiar with it. I was watching the show one night some years ago, and the Evil Queen had a ring of Skeleton Keys with Skulls on them. I thought it would be fun to make something similar so I merged one of my old Apothecary Skull images with a Vintage Skeleton Key. Eerie but cool, isn’t it?
The free Key clipart picture shown above is the original drawing of the skull key. It is a wonderful Ornate Key from an 1870’s Science Magazine! Isn’t this a great illustration?
Key Game Pieces
This great looking antique skeleton key is from an old Victorian children’s card game. It’s a cute little card, with the number 6 on it. I hope you can find a fun use for it in your art!
Vintage Lock and Key Clipart
Here we have a vintage lock and key clipart. The lock pictured above I find intriguing in that it really is very similar to the locks (e.g., Masterlock) made today, but a bit more ornate I think. It has it’s own matching key to go with it. It’s almost heart shaped!
Above is another stylish lock from yesteryear. It is a crisp clear illustration that shows holes on the lock body and a wide bar closure. It is also from an antique Typography book. It’s a bit more of a funky retro look I think.
